How Prominent Is Alzheimer’s Disease Really?

As I understand it, although people can show symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease, the actually disease cannot be diagnosed until after a person has already died and an autopsy is performed on their brain.

Since an autopsy is not a routine process for people who die from pneumonia, kidney failure, etc., Alzheimer’s disease may be vastly under-reported to the Centers for Disease Control.
