I am an independent insurance agent. I started my practice in 1988, in Amarillo, TX. My wife and I have lived in several areas of the Lone Star state since then. Much of my current practice is in the southern area of the state but as I get closer to Medicare age, myself, I wanted to expand my agency into northern Texas, as well.
I still have a few years left to go before I am personally eligible for Medicare, but I understand that I am closer to retirement than I am to the start of my career.
I have a deep appreciation for how expensive health insurance can be for those who are in their fifties and sixties. Fortunately, we now have options.
As I get closer to retirement, I am learning more and more about what Medicare will, and will not, cover. In recent years I have found that I am not just working with health insurance for pre-retirees but also answering questions for those who have recently enrolled in Medicare.
From October 1 to the middle of February, each year, I tend to work 60-80 hours a week. However, from March 1 to September 30 I tend to only need to work 10-20 hours a week to maintain the lines of communication with my clients, stay up to date with ever-changing health insurance rules and regulations and to complete government certifications so I can help people with Medicare products and on the ACA Marketplace when needed.
During time when I am not working on health insurance, you can find me playing with my camera. There is always something new to learn with my camera. Like health insurance, about the time I feel comfortable with something, I learn about a different way to do something.
